Australian basketball great Andrew Gaze says any potential suitor for Ben Simmons will have to shift their team to accommodate him.
The 25-year-old has yet to play for the Philadelphia 76ers this season, with up to 12 clubs reportedly interested in the guard.
While Simmons remains on leave from the club due to mental health reasons, Gaze was hopeful that he’d find a new team soon.
He said that as a “big ticket item”, plenty of teams in the NBA would be interested in exploring options to sign him.
“Let’s hope in the next few days the whole issue with Ben Simmons (is resolved),” he said.
“If you asked me whether it’s going to be resolved, I’d say no. Let’s hope for Ben’s sake, for the 76ers’ sake and for Australian basketball’s sake he’s playing as soon as possible.
“It’s been reported that 12 teams are stalking Ben Simmons and trying to figure out a way to get him in their program.
“For those teams that want him, he’s a big ticket item so you have to figure out your own team as well as being able to provide a trade to entice him so it’s not a simple assignment.
“But when you have a quality player, a lot of teams are going to try to make it happen.”
