Star galloper Zaaki will be using the $5,000,000 All-Star Mile as a “target” race, with the seven-year-old looksing to add another Group 1 to his mantlepiece.
Since racing in Australia, Zaaki has won six of his nine starts, earning almost $4 million in prize money, making him a likely/popular vote for the race, with polls opening on January 24.
Assistant trainer to Annabel Neasham, Todd Pollard, is confident that their galloper will get the vote to line up in the fourth edition of Australia’s only fan-voted race on Saturday, 19 March 2022.
“You’d hope he can get into a race like that,” Pollard said on SEN Track’s Bensley.
“I think Annabel is quite keen for that to be a target race for him.”
With Zaaki set to head to the All-Star Mile second up, Pollard is unsure where the gelding will go after that run, however, the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick is on their agenda.
“There’s obviously a lot of prize money races going around like the Queen Elizabeth back in Sydney so whether he comes for that, I’d imagine that’d be the case,” he added.
Zaaki is the current equal $4.80 favourite in the All-Star Mile with boom horse I'm Thunderstruck.
