Giddey follows in former NBA MVP's footsteps with record-equalling performance

Australian rookie Josh Giddey has put in yet another impressive game for a teenager, following in the footsteps of a former NBA MVP with another team record.

The 19-year-old fell just two points short of his first NBA triple-double on Sunday and proved it was no flash in the pan, backing up to put in a huge effort on Tuesday against Memphis.

He dropped 14 points in the second quarter, the first time he’s recorded more than 10 in any quarter during his NBA career.

Giddey also made a crucial free throw at the death that put the game beyond doubt for Oklahoma City.

He finished with 19 points, five rebounds and 11 assists in the 102-99 win.

The point guard became the first Thunder rookie since Russell Westbrook to record 10 or more assists in two consecutive games.

Oklahoma are beginning to get on a mini-role, recording consecutive wins with Tuesday’s victory and are now 13th in the Western Conference.
