Aussie youngster Olivia Gadecki has reportedly chosen not to receive a vaccination and is set to miss the entire summer of tennis – including the Australian Open.
An AAP report in the West Australian says the 19-year-old is refusing to get vaccinated against COVID-19 despite Tennis Australia’s best efforts to convince her to get the jab.
All players must be fully vaccinated to compete in the Australian Open which gets underway on January 17.
Gadecki was likely to earn an Open wildcard entry after climbing to 237th in the world.
The Queensland teenager was unranked at the start of the year. Gadecki recently made her Fed Cup debut for Australia.
She defeated 2020 Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin at the Phillip Island Trophy at Melbourne Park in February.
