2021-12-15T14:20+11:00

The Dolphins have set their sights on a new target, with Brisbane’s Herbie Farnworth reportedly on the radar of the new franchise.

According to Wide World of Sports, the Redcliffe club is prepared to pay over market value for the 21-year-old in an attempt to lure him away from Red Hill.

The Englishman has been a standout at Brisbane across the last two years, plying his trade in the centres and oftentimes at fullback or on a wing.

With his versatile skillset, the Dolphins are hoping to make Farnworth their first back signing having also secured the signatures of two forwards - Melbourne’s Felise Kaufusi and Parramatta’s Ray Stone.

Farnworth comes off-contract with Brisbane at the end of the 2022 season, meaning he is already free to negotiate with rival clubs including the Dolphins for the 2023 season.

The report suggests the NRL’s 17th franchise are willing to offer a deal worth as much as $500,000 a season to the youngster.

The Dolphins will play their first NRL game in Round 1, 2023.
