Gould confirms Dogs double-swoop, details length of deals

2021-12-08T13:25+11:00

Canterbury director of football Phil Gould has revealed rugby league’s worst kept secret, confirming that both Viliame Kikau and Reed Mahoney have signed to the club.

While it is common knowledge that the pair had committed to the Belmore club beyond 2022, the club has yet to announce either signing officially.

Although the club has been tight lipped, Gould took to Twitter to confirm the news and length of the deals for both recruits.

“The Bulldogs are greatly looking forward to Viliame Kikau and Reed Mahoney joining them in 2023,” the Tweet read.

“Both players have signed four-year deals with the club and will be major additions to a squad that is shaping up well in regards to both quality and depth.”

Gould is confident that both players can help add to a quality squad of 30 players from 2023 that includes fellow recruits Josh Addo-Carr, Matt Burton, Matt Dufty, Tevita Pangai Jr and Paul Vaughan.

The Bulldogs will be looking to improve significantly in 2022 after they finished last in 2021 with just three wins from 24 games.
