2021-12-07T15:16+11:00

The draw has dropped for January’s ATP Cup in Sydney and Novak Djokovic has been confirmed to take part in the event.

It’s the clearest sign yet that the world number one will be at Melbourne Park in January to defend his Australian Open crown.

16 countries will take part in the third staging of the ATP Cup, with four groups announced at the official tournament draw on Tuesday.

18 of the top 20 tennis players in the world will feature in the tournament set to run from January 1-9 as the main ATP precursor to the Australian Open.

The world number one has refused to reveal his vaccination status in recent months, putting his Australian Open campaign in doubt.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews and tournament director Craig Tiley have both confirmed the fully vaccinated mandate for the Melbourne-based tournament.

Fellow big names Dominic Thiem, Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev are also listed to participate in the tournament for their respective countries.

The event will be played at Ken Rosewall Arena and Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, and following the group stage the four winning nations will advance to semi-finals to determine the champion.
