Rain has heavily disrupted England’s Ashes preparations with the first Test in Brisbane now just a week away.
England’s three-day warm-up game against the England Lions in Brisbane last week was ruined by rain with only 29 overs bowled for the entire match.
The inclement weather in Brisbane has continued, with the first day of England’s four-day intra-squad match washed out without a ball being bowled.
It’s England’s last warm-up game before the first Test against Australia gets underway next Wednesday at the Gabba.
Despite the less-than-ideal preparation, England batsman Zak Crawley is confident the squad can compete on Aussie soil.
Crawley is backing veteran quicks James Anderson and Stuart Broad to trouble Australia’s top order, especially if the conditions are conducive to swing and seam bowling.

“We all think the squad is in a really good place at the moment,” he told SEN Drive.
“We fancy ourselves to put in some good performances and with all this rain about, I think we’ve got a good chance.
“You look at two of our bowlers on green, swinging conditions - they’re the best in the world. I think that would suit us. We’ve come prepared for flat decks as well
“If it’s going to continue to rain, I’d say our bowlers are in a really good place to have a great series and if you look at the form from some of the guys over the summer, if it’s not a green seamer and they’re flat, I fancy our boys to score a lot of runs.
“Depending on the conditions, I think we’re suited to either.”
Every player in England’s squad has quarantined and is available for selection.
