The “really difficult” undisclosed injuries one Swans star has been battling

2021-11-29T19:23+11:00

Sydney coach John Longmire says he's comfortable about Isaac Heeney’s current career trajectory, believing his ability to push through injury is as good as any player he’s seen.

The 25-year-old has reportedly open contract talks with the club on the back of a season where he kicked 36 goals and was one of his side’s best players.

Longmire said Heeney had several undisclosed injuries he battled throughout previous seasons, saying he couldn’t be happier with his form after a “fantastic” year.

“If you knew what he was playing with most weeks, you’d think he has been outstanding,” he said on Sportsday.

“He’s had some really difficult injuries he’s had to overcome and he still gets out there and plays, he’s been remarkable.

“His ability to be able play through injury is as good as I’ve seen and most times it’s an injury no one knows about.

“He just keeps on getting out there and playing, we believe he was fantastic this year. He kicked 36 goals and kicked four in the final (against GWS) to almost get us over the line.

“His ability to get out on the park is remarkable and he’s a good player.”

Heeney is currently eligible for free agency at the end of the 2022 season.
