George Kambosos Jr has pulled off perhaps the biggest win in Australian boxing history, claiming the WBA, IBF and WBO lightweight titles with a split decision win over Teofimo Lopez.
Entering the fight at Madison Square Garden as a massive underdog, it was Kambosos Jr who started the fight on the front foot, knocking down the champ in the first round.

After splitting the battle throughout the middle of the fight, Lopez knocked down Kambosos Jr in the tenth but the Australian kept coming and ended the fight the aggressor in the twelfth.
And new! George Kambosos now the No. 1 lightweight in the world, taking all the titles from Teofimo Lopez via split decision in a MONSTER upset. 115-112 and 115-111 for Kambosos, 114-113 for Lopez. I had it 114-112 for Kambosos. Wow. #LopezKambososJr

Commentators described the result as the biggest upset of the year as Lopez appeared despondent when the final verdict was delivered.
The former Cronulla Sharks development squad member remains undefeated now with a record of 20-0 in his professional career.
