Champion trainer Peter Moody heads to Saturday’s Zipping Classic meeting with a two-pronged attack that both look incredibly hard to beat.
Moody will saddle up Melbourne Cup placegetter Spanish Mission in the Group 2 Zipping Classic, however, it’s his two-year-old Brereton who he is most confident about on the weekend.
Brereton won the Group 3 Darley Maribyrnong Plate on Melbourne Cup Day and he heads to Saturday’s Merson Cooper Stakes at Caulfield as a short-priced favourite.
“He’s a strong, precocious two-year-old colt who has done that well since the Maribyrnong," Moody said on SEN Track's Bensley.
“I was going to give him a bit more of a gap and even looked at the option of taking him up to Queensland (for the Magic Millions) early but with the inclement weather and the way he’s done, I had no hesitation in running him on Saturday.
“He’ll take massive improvement and experience from both those runs and back to Caulfield he’ll be very well suited.
"It'll take a very good performance to beat him with the way he's going."

Currently rated a $1.60 chance to take out Saturday’s feature, Spanish Mission has done nothing wrong since heading to Moody’s stables and the star horseman is expecting a big run this weekend.
“We’ve only had him a couple of weeks and we’re still learning about the horse obviously but he’s a very straightforward horse," he added.
“He’s a lovely horse to do anything with for a six-year-old entire, he’s got the demeanour of a dead set kid’s pony.
“He’s settled in good, we haven’t done much with him but the little bit we’ve done, we’re very pleased.
“He’s obviously a very high-quality horse and his form does tell you that, we’ve only given him one bit of work, but he oozes quality.
“He’s a neat, attractive, sexy looking colt.”
Caulfield will play host to the Zipping Classic meeting for the first time in its existence.
