Former Adelaide and Geelong forward Josh Jenkins has named the toughest opponent he played on during his career.
Jenkins, 32, played 147 games for the Crows before seeing out his career at Geelong, finishing on 149 AFL appearances.
Jenkins kicked 297 goals across his career and played on some of the best defenders in the competition, and it was former Fremantle defender Luke McPharlin that caused him the most grief.
Taken at pick 10 in the 1999 draft, McPharlin played 256 games for both Hawthorn (12) and Fremantle (244), and in his prime, there was no better stopper of the opposition's best forward.
“Toughest player I ever played on was Luke McPharlin,” Jenkins said on SEN Drive.
“He was fast, strong, athletic, a very good player.”
McPharlin was awarded Fremantle life membership in 2010, before retiring at the end of the 2015 season.
The ex-Docker was named All-Australian in 2012 and won Mark of the Year in 2005.
Jenkins called time on his AFL career at the end of 2021.
