The 20 million dollar Queensland Summer Racing Carnival kicks off at the Sunshine Coast this afternoon.
We’ve got 9 weeks of top class racing to look forward to culminating with the big Magic Millions meeting on the Gold Coast on the 15th January.
Today’s highlights are the Swiss Ace Plate & The Mooloolaba Cup with the former bringing together an outstanding field of sprinters.
Couldn’t get a better day with a forecast maximum near 30 degrees & a Good (4) rated track. Bring it on!
BEST BETS
Race 8 # 1 LIGULATE (best)
Going for consecutive wins this afternoon & I can’t see any reason as to why he can’t. Dominant winner at Eagle Farm last start after putting the writing on the wall with a flashing finish at Doomben second up.
He gets to the mile today which is only going to suit, is a proven weight carrier & importantly draws well, just doesn’t need to get back too far in the run as there doesn’t look to be a great deal of speed in the race.
Race 3 # 11 QUIET MICHAEL
This field has fallen away with scratchings & unfortunately his price has also taken a tumble however the quote available this morning is still acceptable.
Third up around this big spacious circuit stepping to 1800m looks very suitable as he did win over the same trip at Hawkesbury last prep before placing over 2000m at Rosehill.
Just don’t want any more scratchings!
