Steph Curry makes MVP statement as Golden State blows out Brooklyn

2021-11-17T14:00+11:00

The Golden State Warriors are your early NBA championship favourites and Steph Curry is leading the MVP race.

These are easier statements to make after the Warriors’ statement win over Brooklyn on Wednesday afternoon (AEDT).

Curry dropped 37 points, hitting nine threes and improving the team’s record to 12-2, sitting atop the Western Conference.

After an even first quarter, Golden State blew Brooklyn out of the water in the 117-99 win.

Kevin Durant and James Harden combined for 43 points for the Nets, who are yet to hit their best form this season.

Patty Mills, starting his first game of the season, scored eight points in 32 minutes.

The Warriors have returned to their relentless best, dominating on defence and blowing teams out in third quarters.

Golden State has outscored opposition teams by 124 points in third quarters this season. The next best team is Phoenix at +36.

Andrew Wiggins (19 points) and Jordan Poole (15 points) continue to provide a spark alongside Curry, while Draymond Green, Andre Iguodala and Kevon Looney add the veteran defensive edge.

The Warriors’ dominance early in the season is even more remarkable given star shooting guard Klay Thompson is yet to play as he works his way back from a torn ACL and ruptured Achilles.

It’s still early in the season, but Curry and Golden State may just be heading back to the top of the NBA.
