Listed racing at Doomben this afternoon with the running of the Keith Noud our feature later in the day.
Plenty of rain around Brisbane yesterday morning which sent the rating down to a Heavy (9) however with fine weather since & going forward the surface has improved to a Soft (7) this morning with a good chance of a further upgrade during the day.
Some nice horses to go around in what is a terrific lead up meeting to the official start of the summer carnival next week.

Race 5 # 10 PUTONTHEREDLIGHT
Absolute certainty beaten here last start when settling down last in a sprint home.
She obviously didn’t have the tempo to suit however she would have overcome that hurdle if only she could have gained clear running in the straight, held up badly only seeing daylight late she dashed to the line however the bird had well & truly flown.
Expect her to get right to the outside once into the straight this afternoon & power home over the leaders.
Race 8 # 12 SIMPLY FLY
Important scratching of The Harrovian this morning however I still had this one on top in the original tips & I’m sticking firm this afternoon.
He’s got race fitness over most of his rivals here & meets most very well in at the weights getting in on the minimum. His two seconds this time in suggest he’s now looking for the step up to 1200m & we know how well he goes on wet ground.
He even maps well from the awkward draw should jockey Mark Du Plessis push on early & I hope he does!
Race 9 # 12 MORETHANNUMBERONE
One of our most promising horses this one who has won his past couple displaying a ‘turn of foot’ on each occasion to run past the leaders from back in the field. Keep in mind both wins have been off slow tempo’s adding further merit.
He’s won on soft ground & even though it’s likely to have some effect on his acceleration I don’t see that stopping him from bringing up the hat trick.
