Collingwood is attempting to contact midfielder Jordan De Goey after a report in the New York Daily News stated he was arrested in New York.
The report says De Goey, alongside another man, was arrested for allegedly groping a woman and assaulting her friend.
The Magpie spent a night in custody accused of ‘forcible touching and assault’ and the club is now aware of the issue.
Collingwood released a statement on Sunday where they said they were yet to speak to the 25-year-old.
“Collingwood is aware of a report involving Jordan De Goey,” the statement read this morning.
“The club is attempting to contact Jordan, who is in the USA, to determine the facts of the matter.
“The club will not be in a position to comment further until it has done so.”
UPDATE
De Goey has been released from custody after pleading not guilty to the charges, with Collingwood standing him down “indefinitely”.
The club says De Goey and his management have been informed of the decision.
“Collingwood today stood Jordan De Goey down from its AFL program indefinitely,” the statement read.
“The club will continue to pay De Goey under the terms of his contract until such time as an outcome to proceedings against him in the United States is reached or a more complete account of events is established.
“In the interim, De Goey will not be permitted to train or play with Collingwood or make use of club resources, staff or facilities.
“Collingwood is deeply disappointed by reports and events of the last 48 hours involving De Goey in the US. Given the circumstances, the club believes it is appropriate to remove him from the AFL program.
“Collingwood has been in contact with De Goey and his management today and has explained to both its decision.”
He has been granted bail but is due to reappear in court on December 8.
