Giddey shows glimpse into potential with strong NBA performance

2021-10-25T13:29+11:00

Australian guard Josh Giddey played his best game of his young NBA career for Oklahoma City on Monday morning (AEDT), showing glimpses of why the Thunder drafted him with pick six in the 2021 draft.

Giddey, one of the youngest players in the league, has played all three matches of the Thunder’s season so far and impressed in the side’s 12-point loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday.

The 19-year-old played 34 minutes to gather seven assists and score 19 points, all of which are his best efforts of the season.

He also had eight rebounds to be among the best on the court.

The Australian would have come up against fellow countryman Ben Simmons in the clash, however the 76ers star was not playing due to an ugly spat with his team that has culminated in the All-Star seemingly refusing to play.

The Thunder have now lost their opening three games. They're expected to struggle from a win-loss perspective with their young roster for the 2021/22 season.
