Ben Stokes has sensationally been added to England’s Ashes squad less than two weeks before the team departs.
The star all-rounder has been on leave for mental health reasons, while also recovering from a fractured finger.
But in a statement released on Monday night, the England Cricket Board confirmed he will travel with the rest of the squad to Australia in early November.
“I had a break to prioritise my mental wellbeing and I got my finger sorted,” Stokes said in a statement.
“I am looking forward to seeing my mates and being on the field with them. I’m ready for Australia.”
The news will come as a huge boost for the tourists as they look to win back the Ashes.
The series is currently scheduled to begin in Brisbane on December 8.
