Was the All Blacks v USA a waste of time?

2021-10-25T08:40+11:00

Izzy Dagg believes only positives can be taken away from the USA v All Blacks Test Match, after a 90-point demolition in Washington.

It only took 29 seconds for the All Blacks to score their first try, before they led by 52 at half-time. The same destruction continued in the second half, closing the game to win 104-14.

Although the game was severely one-sided, Dagg admits the historic match was a “great spectacle” for the sport.

He said on SENZ Breakfast: “I thought it was a great spectacle, there is winners, there is losers from it and I know there’s a lot of chat (about) was it worth it?

“It’s a business, without money we can’t operate a business.”

More than 40,000 fans packed into FedEx Field in Washington DC, with Dagg and Riccardo Ball believing the exposure from the match is the most important facet.

“If one of those tries gets on the ESPN top 10 plays of the week, it’s paid for itself hasn’t it, in terms of exposure for the game?” Ball asked.

“Look at the fans, they got to witness some amazing Rugby, 29 seconds to watch Luke Jackson score a try from kick-off… they got to witness some great Rugby and what the All Blacks brand is about,” Dagg said.

“I can only see positives from it (in terms of exposure for the sport).”

The All Blacks will now travel to Europe where they will face Wales, Italy, Ireland and France on a month-long tour.
