Brisbane champion Jason Akermanis is one of the greatest showmen to ever play AFL football.
But who would the triple-premiership Lion and Brownlow Medallist pay to watch in today’s game?
Speaking on SEN Drive, Akermanis, a four-time All-Australian, named the current day players he enjoys watching the most, including a star Lion.
“I’m lucky enough to still watch Charlie Cameron,” Akermanis said.
“I’m living back here in Brisbane now with my family which is back home, but I get to go and see those games, it’s just awesome to see Charlie because he’s like myself – can play forward and very quick.
“But I’m really enjoying watching Melbourne right now and enjoying watching (Christian) Petracca and guys like this. I still love watching (Marcus) Bontempelli.
“I still like Nat Fyfe … the thing I love about Nat Fyfe is he’s in winning the ball, but he’s 190(cm).
“When you’re 190, ‘Kingy’ (David King), how good would it have been to be 190? We would have taken mark after mark. That’s what I love about Nat Fyfe … he’s just a wonderful player.
“Even Ollie Wines and these kinds of guys. It’s hard to be good, it’s even harder to be now a Brownlow Medallist and then back it up.”
From his handstands, bleached hair and amazing highlights reel, Akermanis will be remembered as one of the game’s great entertainers.
