Collingwood wants star trio to commit long-term, tall’s future “up in the air”

2021-10-12T07:11+11:00

Collingwood hopes to have Jordan De Goey, Darcy Moore and Brayden Maynard re-signed on long-term contracts ahead of the 2022 season.

Magpies GM of Football Graham Wright says contract talks with the star trio and their respective managers will progress once the trade period finishes on Wednesday night.

De Goey, Moore and Maynard, three of Collingwood’s most important players, are all coming out of contract at the end of next season.

Speaking on Sportsday, co-host Sam McClure asked: “In a perfect world, would you like to have them signed up before the start of next season?”

Wright replied: “We’d certainly like to have those guys tied up.

“I’ve had conversations with all of their managers.

“We’ll progress those once we get through the next few days (of the trade period) and start to hopefully lock them away for the long-term at the Collingwood footy club.”

Wright was also asked whether unsigned tall Mason Cox will be at Collingwood next year.

“It’s up in the air at the moment,” Wright said.

“We haven’t said that he won’t be, but we’ve left him out of contract at this stage.

“I haven’t spoken to Liam Pickering (his manager) for a few days, but there hasn’t been a lot of interest in a club pursuing him.”

Wright confirmed that Collingwood ruckman Max Lynch has requested a trade to Hawthorn.
