David King has proposed a hypothetical trade for out-of-favour Western Bulldogs forward Mitch Wallis.
Wallis featured in just six matches for the Bulldogs in 2021, with quartet Josh Bruce, Jamarra Ugle-Hagan, Aaron Naughton and Cody Weightman keeping him out of the side.
“I think he’s a wanted player, I’d love him to be at another club … I think he’s got a lot of football in front of him,” King told SEN Breakfast.
“He’s been pigeonholed as that full forward type, so maybe a new club, fresh look, blank canvas (would suit him).”
“I think a club like the Kangaroos would certainly look at him.”
Wallis, the vice-captain of the Dogs, struggled to retain his spot in the side with the emergence of other young forwards.
“He might’ve been a big star at another club, he could have had an enormous year this year,” Dwayne Russell said.
Wallis averaged 10 disposals and under a goal a game in the six appearances this year, a significant difference from his stellar 2020 season, where he kicked 25 goals from 18 matches.
“He’s a great leader … have another three seasons at another club,” King added.
The 28-year-old has played 157 games and is without a contract for next year.
