Port Adelaide forward involved in car accident

Port Adelaide forward Mitch Georgiades was involved in a car accident on Thursday morning.

According to Seven News Adelaide, Georgiades’ car collided with a 16-year-old girl as she was scooting to school in Henley Beach.

The girl was taken to hospital after being knocked off her scooter but avoided serious injury.

Seven News Adelaide understands that no charges have been laid.

The Power released the following statement:

“The Port Adelaide Football Club is aware forward Mitch Georgiades was involved in a minor road accident on Thursday morning.

“Georgiades remained at the scene and co-operated with police. He was not injured in the incident.

“There is no suggestion of impropriety on Georgiades’ behalf.”

Georgiades missed Port Adelaide’s Qualifying Final win over Geelong with a hamstring injury.

The 19-year-old will return via the SANFL on Saturday as he looks to prove his fitness ahead of next week’s Preliminary Final at Adelaide Oval.
