Inaugural Fremantle captain Ben Allan expects the Dockers to demand two first-round draft picks for Adam Cerra “as a starting point”.
Allan, the 1991 Hawthorn premiership player and best and fairest, moved back to Perth in 1995 to become the Dockers’ first skipper.
A former board member and vice president at Fremantle, Allan said his former club would play hard-ball at the trade table.
As things stand, Carlton is the only genuine suitor for Cerra.
“I know that the club will be pretty aggressive in seeking a pretty aggressive trade,” Allan said in an episode of This is Your Sporting Life to air this Sunday.
“When you look at a few of the players who have changed clubs, those higher-profile players over the last few years, they have got two first-round draft picks.
“It’s a big call for a club to give up two first-round picks, but I think that will be the starting point.
“The Cerra one is disappointing. You think about it, he’s 21, he’s had three years and he’s going across and someone is going to get the best of his footy.”
Cerra was taken by Fremantle with pick No.5 in the 2017 national draft.
