Champion darts player Kyle Anderson passes away

2021-08-25T06:02+10:00

The darts world is mourning the passing of Kyle Anderson at just 33.

The Queensland-based player had tested positive for Covid after returning to Australia from the UK in March last year.

It’s understood the larger-than-life star - known on stage as ‘The Original’ - died from complications of long-Covid, alongside his diabetes health issues.

Anderson posted on his Instagram a fortnight ago with a photo from his hospital bed with the quote “here we go again”.

The Professional Darts Corp President Barry Hearn said, “We send our condolences and best wishes to Kyle’s family and friends, particularly his wife and children.

“He was a popular player on the tour and his talent and dedication made him an inspiration to other players around the world.”

Anderson started playing darts from the age of six and had been competing in darts comps worldwide since he was nine years old.

Kyle’s older brother Beau Anderson is also a former darts professional.

The first Indigenous Australians on the professional circuit, both are considered trailblazers in the sport.
