Neil Cordy was boundary riding for Channel Ten when Sydney defeated West Coast by four points in the 2005 Grand Final.
Cordy, who played 96 games for the Swans between 1987 and 1993, was down on the boundary when Sydney defender Leo Barry took an iconic mark in the dying stages of the match.
Barry’s pack mark thwarted the Eagles’ final attacking foray and secured the Swans’ first premiership in 72 years.
“It was funny because I was obviously emotionally involved as a former player,” Cordy told SEN’s This Is Your Sporting Life thanks to Tobin Brothers Funerals
“It finished in such dramatic circumstances with Leo Barry taking that mark and then I remember asking Leo if he’d ever at any stage considered punching or spoiling the ball.
“He clearly made the right choice in plucking that grab.”
Cordy started his career at the Footscray before crossing to Sydney at the end of 1986.
The ex-Swan moved into the media after hanging up his boots with 235 VFL/AFL games next to his name.
