Robert Harvey provides update on future plans following Collingwood caretaker stint

2021-08-12T19:18+10:00

Collingwood caretaker coach Robert Harvey says he plans to touch base with football boss Graham Wright after the season concludes.

Harvey took over as Pies boss on an interim basis following Nathan Buckley’s departure in June, winning two games from seven since starting the new role.

What he does beyond this season is still unclear, with Harvey being a senior assistant at Collingwood since 2013.

He added that he has yet to clarify his future, saying he’s fully focused on rounding out his stint as caretaker coach in a fortnight’s time before assessing his future options.

“I had a really upfront (discussion) with (football boss) Graham Wright initially when I took the job,” he said on Sportsday.

“My brief was pretty clear and that was to get the most out of the last nine games to set a platform to go forward so it was clear for me.

“They said they would be starting the process for next year and would touch base to me at the right time as to my part in that.

“I have my hands full until next week and then I’ll touch base with Graham about whatever the process would be if there is one and then sit down and come to an arrangement.

Collingwood is set to appoint Buckley’s permanent successor in the coming weeks, with the likes of Don Pyke and Brad Scott tipped to be in the running to take the job.
