Richmond star Dustin Martin's season is over after he suffered a serious kidney injury in Friday night's win over Brisbane.
Club doctor Greg Hickey confirmed the news on Saturday afternoon.
“Dustin stayed the night in hospital for observation and has been seen by a urologist this morning. He is feeling good and remains stable,” he said in a statement.
“Given the delicate nature of the injury and recovery timeline, he will not play football again this season.”

Dustin Marin won’t fly back to Victoria on Saturday after spending the night in hospital due to a kidney injury.
Martin sustained the setback after a brutal collision with Brisbane’s Mitch Robinson, which saw the 30-year-old come off second best and eventually withdrawn from the game.
“Scans have revealed Dustin Martin has suffered a kidney injury in last night’s match against Brisbane,” a club statement read on Saturday morning.
“Martin left the field in discomfort after an incident in the third quarter and was taken to a Gold Coast hospital following the win. He remains in hospital for assessment.”
Following the Tigers’ 20-point win on Friday night, coach Damien Hardwick said Martin had been sent to hospital for “precautionary reasons”, but was earlier adamant he would be right to play in next weekend’s Grand Final rematch against Geelong.
The club is set to release a further update later on Saturday.
