Report: 76ers open trade talks for Ben Simmons, potential suitors named

The 76ers have begun trade talks surrounding All-Star Ben Simmons.

The Australian star had a rough playoff campaign with Philadelphia, with the one-seeded side eliminated in the second round of the playoffs.

The Athletic is reporting that Philly president of basketball operations Daryl Morey has opened trade discussions.

It was also reported that the likes of Cleveland, Indiana, Minnesota, Sacramento and Toronto have expressed interest in making a move for Simmons.

The Defensive Player of the Year runner-up is still 24 and has a max contract worth $170 million tying him to the 76ers until the 2025 season.

Simmons recently made the decision to pull out of representing Australia at the Tokyo Olympics, instead choosing to focus on ‘individual skill development’. He was spotted at Wimbledon in the same week.

The Boomers meanwhile have started their Olympic warm-up campaign 2-0, taking down Team USA and 2019 FIBA World Cup runners-up Argentina.

Still, their lack of forward depth would have been solved with Simmons’ presence.
