Carlton defender Nic Newman will be available for selection this weekend despite a sickening fall during the side’s Round 12 loss to West Coast.
The 28-year-old landed on his head after his legs were taken out from under him in a marking contest, with the club reporting that he suffered a concussion.
Thankfully, Newman is right to go having seen out the 12-day protocol across the club’s bye.
Star forward Harry McKay was substituted out of the same game with a concussion, but has also been cleared to play.
The Blues will still be without Lachie Plowman (knee) and Michael Gibbons (hamstring), while Lachie Fogarty is available for selection after being managed against the Eagles.
Carlton also provided an update on Charlie Curnow on Wednesday afternoon, saying he now needs a month in full training before being considered for (likely VFL) selection.
This could see him returning for the Blues in the final month of the season.
Very hard to watch this one - Nic Newman comes from the ground with a potential concussion 🤕
