West Coast is yet to confirm whether they will participate in this year’s mid-season draft.
The Eagles currently do not have a list spot available but have reportedly asked ex-Blue Jarrod Garlett to nominate for the rookie draft.
Club great Peter Sumich thinks former Saint and South Fremantle livewire Matthew Parker would address West Coast’s need for a sprinkle of speed.
Sumich suggested taking luckless Eagle Daniel Venables off the list as he deals with ongoing concussion issues.
“He (Venables) might be the one that they’re talking to say, ‘We’ve got to take you off the list, now is the opportunity to for us to get a Parker or a local’,” he told SEN WA Drive.
“He (Parker) is a goalkicking player, midfielder with a bit of speed, I think he’d be ideal for the Eagles.
“I think he’s the one if the Eagles were looking for a bit of speed, which they need.”
Parker spent two years at St Kilda as a mature-age recruit, kicking 16 goals in 19 games, before being delisted last November.
The 25-year-old returned to South Fremantle and has officially nominated for this year's mid-season draft.
