Adem Yze is in no rush to land his first AFL senior coaching gig.
Yze spent nine years at Hawthorn working under Alastair Clarkson in a range of roles including match day strategy and opposition, defensive coach and specialist goalkicking and development coach.
The 43-year-old left the Hawks to return to former club Melbourne, joining Simon Goodwin’s coaching staff for the 2021 season.
His arrival has coincided with the unbeaten Demons making their best start to a season since 1965.
Yze interviewed for the Adelaide Crows senior coaching job in 2019, but ultimately remained at Hawthorn for another season.
“Do you really know when you’re ready to go?” Yze told SEN’s Dwayne’s World.
“I’m really enjoying what I’m doing. I was really happy with the process that I went through for the Adelaide role and really enjoyed seeing what the whole process was about.
“But in saying that, I’m not in any rush. I’ve just changed clubs, I’m really enjoying what I’m doing, I’m not too fussed what the future holds in that area.

“But if something does come up, I’ll obviously assess it and see if it’s something that I’ll pursue.
“They’re hard jobs to get, there’s only 18 jobs in the country, so when they do come about, I’ll obviously have a good think about putting my hand up for it.
“It’s not something I’m really rushing towards. I want to be in a position that when I do go through those processes, that I’m ready to go and I’ve ticked all the boxes to make sure to jump into that seat.
“I’m enjoying the ride at the moment and just trying to improve every year.”
Yze, who has completed his level four AFL coaching course, played 271 games for the Demons.
