Matthew Lloyd has called on Collingwood to keep Darcy Moore forward for Sunday’s ANZAC Day game against Essendon, believing the Pies could “rip the Bombers apart” by leaving him in the position.
Nathan Buckley opted to move Moore into the forward line against West Coast last week, with the 25-year-old kicking three goals.
Whether to keep Moore forward to switch him back to defence has been one of the key questions the Magpies face ahead of the much-anticipated meeting, but Lloyd believes the star defender will offer more to his side in attack.
“I’m not saying for the rest of the year but I’d like for them to stick with him forward on ANZAC Day," he said on Sportsday.
“When you’re 1-4, go all in. You have Aaron Francis, Jordan Ridley isn’t playing and I reckon you can rip the Bombers apart and can make do with the other defenders.
“They just have to take care of Cale Hooker and there’s not many others that can hurt (Collingwood) in the air.
“Let Darcy (Moore) loose on ANZAC Day.”
The biggest crowd in the world since the start of the pandemic could be in attendance at the game, with up to 75,000 fans as it stands allowed at the MCG on Sunday.
