North Melbourne young gun a "real chance" of missing Geelong clash

2021-04-17T13:00+10:00

North Melbourne young gun Luke Davies-Uniacke is in serious doubt for the club’s clash against Geelong at GMHBA Stadium on Sunday.

Davies-Uniacke has been one of the shining lights for the Roos so far this season, averaging 19 touches and five marks in his four games.

SEN Chief Sports Reporter Sam Edmund reports that there’s a “good chance” he won’t play in Round 5 as a result of a calf injury.

“(North Melbourne) could be making that trip (to Geelong) without young gun Luke Davies-Uniacke,” he said on SEN’s Crunch Time.

“There’s a good chance he’ll be a late withdrawal with a calf issue, it’s exactly what they don’t need.

“He only played the nine games last year due to a groin issue, hopefully this is only minor, but I’m told there’s a real chance he’ll be out with a calf (injury).”

His absence would come at a shocking time for coach David Noble, who is dealing with a lengthy injury list.

Jed Anderson (ankle), Aidan Corr (toe), Luke McDonald (torn pec), Jared Polec (hamstring), Josh Walker (hamstring), Cam Zurhaar (concussion) are all sidelined, while Robbie Tarrant (kidney) and Trent Dumont (calf) are yet to feature this season.

The Roos will be looking to cause arguably the upset of the season on Sunday, as they chase their first win under new coach David Noble.
