2021-02-24T06:52+11:00

Tiger Woods has been injured in a car crash in Los Angeles where his SUV crashed and rolled over.

Woods was the sole occupant of the vehicle and firefighters required the ‘jaws of life’ to free him from the car.

He was then transported to a local hospital by ambulance to undergo surgery to address "multiple leg injuries".

Woods’ agent, Mark Steinberg, has released a statement regarding the 45-year-old champion of the course.

“Tiger Woods was in a single-car accident this morning in California where he suffered multiple leg injuries,” the statement read.

“He is currently in surgery and we thank you for your privacy and support.”

It is understood that Woods has sustained two broken legs per ESPN SportsCenter's Michael Eaves.

Officials told reporters that “the vehicle sustained major damage”.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Michelle Sanchez, joined Andrew Voss on SEN 1170 Breakfast to give further insight into the accident.

“This morning at approximately 7:12am we had a call of a single vehicle roll-over traffic collision and that was at the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes,” Sanchez said.

“When we responded, we found out the vehicle was travelling north-bound on Hawthorne Boulevard when it crashed.

“We understood the vehicle sustained major damage. During that time, when the driver and sole occupant was PGA golfer Eldrick Tiger Woods.”

Sanchez was unable to share if Woods was unconscious at all during the accident, but she did offer some further information.

“I do know when Mr Woods was extracted from the wreck using the ‘jaws of life’, LA County Firefighters and Paramedics then transferred him to the local hospital,” she added.
