On SEN’s the Captain’s Run Kane Cornes was posed five over or under scenarios about the upcoming sporting landscape.
Cornes was asked to declare his thoughts on the scenarios and whether they would meet the over/under mark.

OVER/UNDER: Tim Paine playing 40 Test Matches for Australia
Kane says: UNDER
“Tim Paine, 35 Test matches he’s played. He’s just been included in the squad to tour South Africa, that is a three Test Match series.
“We probably know that he’s going to get to 38. Will he get to over 40 or under?
“I’m going to go the under here. I think Alex Carey has been included for a reason. I don’t think he’s going to get to 40.”
OVER/UNDER: LeBron James wins six NBA Championships before he retires. He currently has four.
Kane says: UNDER
“I’m going to go under. Six is the big one because of Michael Jordan and the comparisons between the two.
“Who’s better? The younger generation probably says LeBron. An older generation like myself usually go Michael Jordan.
“I think LeBron will get five. I think the Lakers are the best team in it this year. I think they’ll win it this year, but I think that might be it.”
Ben Brown to kick OVER/UNDER 45 goals in 2021?
Kane says: OVER
“2017 he went 63, 2018 he went 61 and 2019 he went 64. Last year he only kicked eight from his nine games.
“I’m going to go over 45. I think it is reasonable to suggest that Ben Brown can go just a touch over two goals per game. I think that is realistic.
“Historically he has been pretty durable. Like, 22 games in a row for five straight seasons.”

“This one kept me up at night. That’s how much I’ve got on in my life at the moment.
“I don’t know how to assess (Geelong). It wouldn’t surprise me if they win it this year, but equally it wouldn’t surprise me if they bomb.
“I think it’s their last opportunity. I think this year’s his last opportunity so I’m going to go under because premierships are tough to win and if he’s only got one year left, as determined as he has been, I’m going to go the under.”

“You hate speculating on people’s careers and you don’t wish it upon anyone, but it’s unusual for a coach to not to lose their job in any one year.
“Who are the coaches under pressure? Simon Goodwin’s certainly under pressure, I reckon there’s some heat on Leon Cameron, Nathan Buckley’s out of contract.
“You probably have to go over unfortunately with that one. Now there’s this ridiculous clause in coach contracts that regardless of how long you sign for, it’s a six-month payout.
“Clubs can just willy-nilly sack whoever they want and not have to face the payout so unfortunately I think there could be a bit of movement in the coaching ranks this year.”
