Richmond’s Sydney Stack has been charged and refused bail for allegedly breaching Western Australia’s COVID-19 quarantine protocols.

Stack was reportedly arrested in Northbridge in the early hours of Saturday morning after being granted compassionate permission to enter WA from South Australia on December 10 to attend his grandfather's funeral.

The 20-year-old was required to complete 14 days self-isolation at a nominated address in Northam, but it’s alleged he was staying at a house in Belmont before his arrest.

Richmond released the following statement on Sunday afternoon:

“The Club is aware Sydney Stack has been charged with allegedly breaching COVID quarantine protocols in Perth.

“As the matter is before the courts the Club won’t be making any further comment.”

Stack and teammate Callum Coleman-Jones were fined and suspended for 10 games for breaking the AFL’s return-to-play protocols in September.

The young Tiger admits his career is in the balance after his latest off-field indiscretion.

“My AFL career is on the line with Richmond,” Stack told a WA Court.

He will next appear in court on Monday, December 21.

Stack has played 26 games since arriving at Punt Road as a rookie in 2019. He comes out of contract next season.
