The Sydney Sixers thrashed the Melbourne Renegades by 145 runs at Blundstone Arena on Sunday night – the biggest winning margin by runs in BBL history.
Player of the Match Josh Philippe hit a career-best 95 before Jordan Silk’s unbeaten 45 helped the Sixers post a healthy 4-205, with a whopping 144 runs coming off the last 11 overs.
In reply, the Renegades slumped to 4-25 before being bowled out for just 60 with Ben Dwarshuis (4-13) and Stephen O'Keefe (3-16) starring with the ball for the Sixers.
The Renegades’ paltry effort is the second lowest BBL total and coach Michael Klinger described the run chase as a “train wreck”.
“After that start, our tactics were obviously, as you would have seen, to try and get that bonus point,” Klinger told reporters post-match.
“It just sort of kept getting worse after that, a bit of a train wreck I suppose.
“The tactics were fine, and boys had a crack. It just got worse because of our execution when we tried to go for that point.
“It just didn’t work out.”
The Renegades next face the Hobart Hurricanes on Saturday, while the Sixers take on the Adelaide Strikers on Sunday.
