Malcolm Blight has questioned Jason Dunstall and Matthew Pavlich’s roles during Adelaide’s external review at the end of last year.
Dunstall and Pavlich were part of a four-person panel tasked with conducting an external six-week review of the Crows’ football department after a tumultuous 2019 season.
Head of football Brett Burton and senior assistant coach Scott Camporeale departed following the post-season review.
The Crows, under rookie coach Matthew Nicks, claimed the wooden spoon for the first time in the club’s history after slumping to 0-13 to start the 2020 season.
“Jason Dunstall and Matthew Pavlich were two of my favourite all-time players and good blokes,” dual Crows premiership coach Blight told SEN Mornings.
“But they were given the task of reviewing the Adelaide Football Club – they’re two rookie reviewers with no significant experience or history in assessing the core of a football club.
“And they’ve left the building … and they left them with a 0-13 result.
“I mean, the last two significant public reviews were Geelong in 2006 and Richmond in 2016 – much vaunted – flags resulted.
“The Crows have got a wooden spoon, you’re kidding.
“I said it was an ordinary decision at the time and I still stick to it.”
Blight also took aim at Adelaide’s board.
“Those internally know the club better – they shouldn’t be there if they can’t make those decisions. That’s from the board down,” Blight added.
“If you can’t make a decision on your club, get out. Drives me nuts, that.”
