ARLC Chairman Peter V’landys has fired a shot at the AFL over their decision to relocate their Grand Final to Brisbane.
This year’s AFL Grand Final will be hosted at the Gabba – the first time the premiership decider will be played outside of Victoria and under lights.
The night Grand Final is slated for Saturday October 24 with the first bounce at 6:30pm AEST (7:30pm AEDT).
NRL boss V’landys was asked whether he has any sympathy for the AFL having to host their Grand Final in rugby league heartland.
"Zero (sympathy)," V’landys told Channel Nine’s Today Show.
"On that subject, while they're in Brisbane, it's like people going to an ABBA concert when they're AC/DC fans.
"They'll like the rhythm for a while, but they'll go back to the real heavy stuff, the rugba league."
The NRL Grand Final will be played at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium on Sunday, October 25.
The premiership showpiece could be played in front of 40,000 fans after the NSW Government increased crowd capacity from 25 per cent to 50 per cent from October.
