Cam McCarthy is keen to continue his AFL career outside of Western Australia.
McCarthy quit Fremantle in August after being informed he wouldn’t be receiving a contract for the 2021 season.
McCarthy joined the Dockers in 2017 after experiencing homesickness in his final two years at GWS, having sat out the 2016 season.
The 25-year-old forward has suggested that perhaps a club like Collingwood would suit him.
“I’ve always said that from day one, I like Collingwood,” McCarthy told The Western Australian.
“Obviously I wish I would have played for Freo for the rest of my career.
“If I’m not going to play, why would I go back over to another hub and sit there for five weeks?
“JL (Justin Longmuir) is doing a good job down there. They’re going to be a serious side in the next couple of years, trust me.”
The South Fremantle product has booted 99 goals in a stop-start 70-game career.
