Essendon great Don McKenzie has reflected on his decorated career.
McKenzie is a two-time premiership player with the Bombers having achieved the ultimate success in 1962 and 1965.
A ruckman capable of punching the ball to centre-half forward, McKenzie took out Essendon’s best and fairest in 1966 before captaining the club in 1969.
“They are great memories, the comradery that we built up in relation to the premiership players,” McKenzie told SEN's This Is Your Sporting Life thanks to Tobin Brothers Funerals.
“There’s a get together every year and it’s a good time to catch up with everybody.
“It’s usually a week before that year’s premiership so it’s a good occasion.”
McKenzie, now 81, played 266 games for the Bombers between 1960 and 1974.
