Much-loved commentary icon Dennis Cometti will return to Channel 7 for their coverage of Thursday night’s clash between Geelong and Collingwood at Optus Stadium, according to Tim Watson.
Cometti retired from TV commentary at the end of the 2016 season but still calls Perth AFL matches for local radio.
While he won’t be back in the commentary booth for the Round 7 opener, Watson confirmed the 71-year-old will make a special guest appearance at half-time.
“You will see Dennis Cometti on the Channel 7 coverage tonight,” Watson revealed on SEN Breakfast.
“You will see him at half-time but he won’t be calling the game. He’s going to make an appearance at half-time.
“I assume he may not want (to call footy on TV anymore) and maybe he’s not up to it.
“All I tell you is he’ll be there at half-time and it will be great to see him back on the screen.”
Cometti was recently inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame.
