Brisbane Lions CEO Greg Swann has made it vehemently clear that Charlie Cameron will not be leaving the club anytime soon.
Recent rumours regarding the 26-year-old livewire forward and interest from the likes of Carlton and North Melbourne have been played down by Swann who is insistent that the former Crow will remain a Lion for the foreseeable future.
The 2019 All-Australian forward joined Brisbane prior to the 2018 season and has quickly become a fan favourite, booting 85 goals in 41 games, including 11 in six this season.
Asked on SEN's Dwayne's World if the club enquired about the reports, Swann said: “No, not that one.
“He’s not going anywhere.
“I did see it and hear about it but we didn’t follow it up because it’s not true.
“He’ll be staying at the Lions, I have no doubt.
“He’s our most popular player and most of the jumpers and t-shirts and things are Charlie Cameron stuff. The kids love him and he is a good player, so he’s not going anywhere.”
In more good news for the Lions, it was reported today in the Herald Sun that key defender Harris Andrews is set to sign on with the club beyond next year.
The 23-year-old All-Australian full-back is under contract until the end of 2021 and is expected to pen a new deal which would see him receive a well-deserved pay rise.
His manager Shane Casley told the Herald Sun: “We are certainly always having talks with Brisbane about Harris. He is contracted but we have had some preliminary talks.
“Everything has been put on hold but I would imagine some time in the next six months we would try to do something.
“They have got such a young group coming together up there and he loved being part of it.”
The Lions were last night beaten by Geelong, losing by 27 points at the SCG after leading by as much as 22 during the second quarter, with Andrews well beaten by Tom Hawkins and Cameron kicking just one goal from four kicks.
Chris Fagan’s side sits third on the ladder and next takes on GWS at Giants Stadium on Saturday, July 18.
