Off the Bench TV returns ahead of schedule

2020-04-22T10:24+10:00

Crocmedia’s popular Off The Bench TV show returns this Thursday for a special four-week run in support of regional footy communities.

The show – now in its 13th year, will air at 8pm on SCA Channel 9 throughout regional Victoria and deliver a welcome footy-fix to viewers who have been starved of their beloved game due to COVID-19.

Much-loved host, Liam ‘Pickers’ Pickering will be joined this year by respected sports journalist Sam Edmund for the show that celebrates the enormous passion country people have for their game.

Together, they will chat with country football personalities and showcase stories from local clubs with all the humour associated with the Off The Bench brand.

Crocmedia Chief Executive Officer Craig Hutchison said local footy was the heartbeat of every country town.

“Our business began with a country footy show … country people are our people, and they’re doing it tough with their clubs in jeopardy, so we decided to bring the show back ahead of schedule to show them our support,” Hutchison said.

“It’s great to have Pickers – the face of the show – alongside new blood Sam Edmund. Together they will tap into rich local footy stories and personalities and show them that we care.”

Southern Cross Austereo Executive General Manager - Victoria & Canberra Rod Winner commented, “We’re excited about bringing Off The Bench back early, especially with the love of AFL in regional Victoria”.

Over the past 12 years, Off The Bench has gained a loyal following in regional Victoria. In 2019, Off The Bench TV had over 120,000 video views on Facebook.

Off The Bench TV is one of many sport entertainment television programs produced by Crocmedia including Women’s Footy, Footy SA, Footy WA and The Oval Office.

Country footy fans can also access scores, ladders and stats on www.countryfootyscores.com – the home of country footy on the net since 2000.
