NBA favourite Tyrone 'Muggsy' Bogues says he is not quite sure what the sequel of Space Jam will bring about.
The 1996 cult classic which features NBA stars and Looney Tunes characters up against the Monstars is set for a 2021 sequel centred around LeBron James.
The original featured Michael Jordan and Bugs Bunny working together to save the world but 889-game NBA veteran Bogues, who starred alongside MJ, admits he doesn’t know what to expect from the next development.
“It was a great experience, we had a great time on set,” he said on SEN Breakfast.
“Myself, Michael, Charles (Barkley), Patrick (Ewing), Larry Johnson and Shawn Bradley, we had a really good time.
“We didn’t know what was going to come about but here it is today, they say one of the best iconic sports movies that’s been assembled. It was a treat to be part of.
“We don’t have no idea of Space Jam 2 starring LeBron James, we’re not quite sure of the thoughts behind it.
“We saved the planet, so I don’t know what they’re going to do!”
Bogues also commented on hearsay suggesting he had to undergo surgery during filming more than two decades ago.
“I had surgery right after they started to cast and I was on crutches at the time,” the Charlotte Hornets great added.
“When I got the call from Warner Brothers, they still wanted me to read my lines and if I had a means of still coming in to do so.
“They created a situation where I came in and they had a dolly because I couldn’t walk. So a couple of scenes that I had, especially the one in the hospital, they had me sitting and I was kind of acting like I was moving my shoulders like I was actually walking.
“I made the cut, my reading made the cut.”
Space Jam remains the highest-grossing basketball film of all-time.
