Is Scott Pendlebury Collingwood’s best ever player?

2019-07-16T07:08+10:00

Collingwood captain Scott Pendlebury is the best ever player to don the black and white, according to AFL great Terry Wallace.

Pendlebury is one of the most decorated players in the club’s history having won five Copeland Trophy awards, three ANZAC Day Medals and a Norm Smith Medal in the 2010 premiership triumph over St Kilda.

He is also a five-time All-Australian and has skippered the Magpies since 2014, making him the third-longest serving captain behind Syd Coventry and Nathan Buckley.

“I think Scotty Pendlebury is the best player to have ever played with the Collingwood Football Club. I’ve got him in front of Nathan Buckley," Wallace told SEN Drive.

"I would have Wayne Richardson very, very high, but I would have certainly Scott Pendlebury for his body of work at No.1.”

Pendlebury, 31, has played 293 games for the Pies since he was selected with pick No.5 in the 2005 AFL Draft.

The champion midfielder underwent surgery on a broken finger he sustained in the one-point win over West Coast but remains a chance to play against GWS on Saturday.
