1116 SEN DELIVERS GROWTH ACROSS ALL SHOWS

Melbourne’s Home of Sport 1116 SEN increased to a 3.1% share across all people 10+ adding 24,000* listeners each week to deliver 287,000 listeners in the GfK Survey 2, 2018 released today.

Building on its growth from Survey 1, Breakfast with Garry Lyon and Tim Watson increased in share and number of listeners (All People 10+) and in the station’s audience sweet spot - Males 35-54, grew in share from 7.0% to 8.8%.

Gerard Whateley as 1116 SEN’s new chief sports caller made a strong impact with his coverage of the South African Test Series and associated controversy, resulting in an increase in Evenings and Weekends.

The return of the footy season has injected further growth to the station, led by Gerard Whateley and an all-star line-up including Anthony Hudson, Garry Lyon, Kevin Bartlett, Malcolm Blight, Kane Cornes, Bob Murphy, Peter Donegan, Terry Wallace, Danny Frawley and Daisy Pearce.

Other results include:

Weekends, 1116 SEN is the home of live sport, with an increase of 25,000^^ listeners (All People 10+); AFL Nation is settling in to the season, with an increase in share to 4.3 (All People 10+), up year on year+; and Drive with KB and the Doc share increased 0.3 overall.

Pacific Star Network CEO and Managing Director Craig Hutchison said the results were really pleasing.

“We’re only two surveys into a new and very different 1116 SEN and the early signs are encouraging. Our audience is responding well to the new show line-up – with people listening longer, increased share and growth in number of listeners,” Hutchison said.

“We’re forging a new path and trialling new things like our coverage of the South African Test Series and an Australian radio first with the broadcast of the famed Masters Tournament from Augusta National Golf Club with Andy Maher leading the coverage.”

SEN's digital presence is also providing healthy growth, with unique visitors to SEN.com.au up 30.92% year on year, to 677,676^. Mobile users continue to download the SEN app, with a total of 112,000^ downloads since the launch of the app.
