Cotton crowned NBL MVP

2018-02-27T22:04+11:00

Bryce Cotton has been rewarded for a sensational 2017/18 NBL season, taking home the league’s MVP.

After dominating last season’s NBL grand final series, winning the MVP of that tournament while leading the Perth Wildcats to victory, Cotton carried that form into this regular season.

The 25-year-old averaged 19.4 points per game across the campaign, while shooting a tremendous 44.9 percent from three-point range.

His play helped lead the Wildcats to another finals appearance, which kicks off on Saturday night against the Adelaide 36ers.

Cotton polled 117 votes, ahead of Demetrius Conger from the Illawarra Hawks (94) and Jerome Randle from the Sydney Kings (79).

Melbourne United also enjoyed a strong night, with Dean Vickerman taking out the Coach of the Year.

Vickerman helped lead United to top place on the NBL ladder, with their best-of-three semi-finals series tipping off against the New Zealand Breakers on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Melbourne had two players (Casper Ware and Josh Boone) in the All-NBL First Team, and one representative in the All-NBL Second Team (Tai Wesley).
