SEN footy analyst Terry Wallace has revealed a trend that illustrates Essendon's 12-year run in mediocrity.
“Since 2005, this is their [Essendon’s] run – 13th, 15th, 12th, 12th, 8th, 14th, 8th, 11th, 6th with an asterisk, 7th, 15th and 18th,” Wallace told SEN’s Hungry For Sport.
“Where are Essendon at? That’s a long time in the doldrums. We know they had a period there where they had problems, but this is a big club. They need to rise again.”
The Bombers sit 11th on the ladder with six wins and eight losses this season, so their run of middle-table finishes seems to be continuing.
Five-time premiership player Kevin Bartlett called Essendon’s last couple of weeks “pathetic,” after they blew big leads against Sydney and Brisbane.
The Dons will look to get back on the winners list this Saturday against Collingwood.
